A huge scare for Texas football fans was provided by the Baylor Bears in a Week 7 battle that came down to the final minutes of the fourth quarter.

It was almost an upset for sophomore quarterback Charlie Brewer and the Baylor Bears on the Forty Acres in Week 7. One of the closest games of the season so far for Texas football made fans sweat, although it looked as if the team was going to pull away around halftime. The Longhorns did at least hang on for the win in a week filled with big upsets in the top 10 of the AP Poll.

For Week 8, the Horns moved up to a No. 7 ranking in the nation in the AP Poll and at No. 8 in the Coaches Poll. We’ll see soon where Texas football rings in for the first edition of the College Football Playoff Rankings. Texas football should be near guaranteed to at least get a top 10, if not a top eight, ranking in the first Playoff poll.

However, Texas is having a potential problematic trend coming about with head coach Tom Herman in playing up and down to competition. There were quite a few things that contributed to how close this game was compared to what should’ve happened against Baylor. But, the Horns still had the opportunity to pull away with a 23-10 lead established in the second half and just couldn’t manage it.

You have to give some credit to Baylor head coach Matt Rhule for pulling this program back together and making it competitive in the Big 12. Baylor is going to be a good team moving forward with him at the helm.

Here’s a look at the five overreactions from the nailbiting 23-17 win at home over the Baylor Bears, for the Texas Longhorns in Week 7.
