5. Cameron Dicker still has some growing pains

Of all the integral players for the Texas football special teams, true freshman kicker Cameron Dicker had the most up and down start to the 2018 campaign. He’s had some perfect games, like the Red River Showdown win over the Oklahoma Sooners and the win in the Week 3 primetime matchup with the USC Trojans.

However, the wins over the TCU Horned Frogs and here against Baylor saw Dicker only make four of his eight attempted field goals. He’s going to have some issues getting acquainted with this team as expected. As long as he continues to make clutch field goals, that’s all that really matters for the Horns at this moment.

Dicker is doing a good job with some of the longer field goal attempts he’s had this year. His longest against the Bears was 47 yards, and he was one of the factors that pushed Texas to the win ultimately. Dicker is also perfect on every one of his extra point attempts this fall so he hasn’t had many slip ups that were too overwhelming.

True freshman punter Ryan Bujcevski is in a similar boat to Dicker in the sense that both special teams figureheads are having some issues in their first seasons on the Forty Acres. But, Bujcevski did have one of his best games yet in the burnt orange with an average of more than 47 yards per punt and a long of 56 on four attempts.
