What still remains

Among the five games that the Horns have left for the 2018 schedule, a mixed bag could present a number of opportunities for a trap game. And, the headlining matchup still appears to be the meeting with West Virginia on the Forty Acres on Nov. 3. As long as West Virginia holds it together until then, it should still be a big time showdown with major Big 12 Title implications.

The next test up for the Horns is a road battle with the Oklahoma State Cowboys on Oct. 27 at Boone Pickens Stadium. Oklahoma State might wind up as one of the easier games left for the season with how its looked of late. The Kansas State Wildcats knocked off Oklahoma State by the final score of 31-12 in Week 7, so the Pokes are trending down right now.

The other three teams left are the Kansas Jayhawks, Texas Tech Red Raiders, and Iowa State. Texas Tech and Iowa State are increasingly more difficult opponents with the way both teams looked in recent weeks. West Virginia knows all too well what Iowa State can do now and Texas Tech just knocked off the TCU Horned Frogs in an entertaining Week 7 weeknight affair.

Kansas should be the gimme game for the rest of the regular season, but we can’t forget about the last time that the Horns visited Lawrence. And, these last five games feature three games on the road and two at home. At least West Virginia and Iowa State are two of the most difficult games left and both come on the Forty Acres.
