The path to the College Football Playoff is becoming clear for Texas football with only games left in the regular season where it should be favored.

The discussion surrounding the College Football Playoff and Texas football is growing stronger and stronger. That will happen when a team achieves a top 10 ranking in the AP Poll for two consecutive weeks and experienced one of the biggest turnarounds of any team in the nation. Fans of the Longhorns have to be so excited for what’s to come with this team for the rest of the 2018 campaign.

There’s five games that remain for Texas football, but the toughest part of the season is already past with an opening gauntlet that the team came out of unscathed. However, with the way that the Horns played down to some opponents at time this season it could still be a treacherous road to round out the regular season.

On the other hand, Texas football has yet to find itself in a game that could not be considered thoroughly entertaining and competitive by even a general college football fan outside of the Forty Acres and the Big 12. A lot of the factors we’ve taken away so far from the first half of the year for Texas bodes well for a clear path to the College Football Playoff.

At this point, it’s obvious that if Texas wins out it will be in a prime position for a Playoff berth. Another slip up after the season opening loss to the Maryland Terrapins and the Horns are likely looking at a New Year’s Six Bowl appearance at best.

Here’s a look at the definitive five reasons to be that the rolling Texas Longhorns will make the College Football Playoff for the first time in program history in 2018.
