3. Texas front seven can contain Justice Hill

Last year, junior Oklahoma State running back Justice Hill established himself as a true star and weapon in the Big 12. He is, once again, the focal point of the Oklahoma State offense with former star quarterback Mason Rudolph now in the NFL with the Pittsburgh Steelers. Stopping Hill is key to pulling out the win for the Horns here.

The last two outings for Hill were the least bit productive. He averaged way less than four yards per carry each of the last two losses for the Pokes and only racked up 105 total rushing yards and one touchdown. Opposing teams seem to have figured out how to stop Hill on the ground and force Oklahoma State to rely more on Cornelius.

That bodes well for defensive coordinator Todd Orlando as he tries to shut down this offense like he did last year. If not for that mind-boggling pass that Ehlinger had in overtime straight to an Oklahoma State defensive back in overtime, Orlando’s gameplan could’ve led Texas football to victory.

If Oklahoma State puts the game in Hill’s hands and he has the same efficiency as the past two weeks, Texas defenders like senior linebacker Gary Johnson and senior defensive end Charles Omenihu could have a field day. Texas has the upper hand against Oklahoma State’s ground game with the lack of effectiveness of Cornelius through the air.
