2. Turnover battle falls in favor of the Longhorns

Oklahoma State is forcing just over one turnover per game in total. And, it only has four interceptions total on the season. The ball hawking secondaries that Texas could face in teams like Iowa State and Texas Tech doesn’t exist in Stillwater this fall.

On the other hand, the Horns are forcing turnovers at a very high rate this year. Texas is averaging slightly more than one interception per game. Most of those interceptions came from Sterns this season, who nabbed his fourth against Baylor. His pursuit in defense of the pass is forcing more than one interception every other game.

Senior Texas cornerback Kris Boyd had a nice outing against Baylor too taking on some pretty talented wide receivers. While fellow senior corner Davante Davis was getting burned by some of the Baylor wide receivers, Boyd actually held his own most of the way. Considering the pedigree and talent from Baylor wideouts like Denzel Mims and Jalen Hurd, that’s a good sign for what’s to come against Oklahoma State.

Seeing Boyd nab his second interception of the year or Sterns getting his fifth would be huge. Cornelius is going through a rough streak in finding the end zone compared to finding the opposing defense’s corners and safeties. That’s just another edge that Texas can hold to run away with the win.
