5. Kansas Jayhawks

Date: Nov. 23

Location: David Booth Kansas Memorial Stadium, Lawrence, KS

There is not a more obvious choice on this list than placing the Kansas Jayhawks as the easiest opponent remaining for Texas football. Most fans outside of the Texas football program will always point back to the 2016 campaign where Charlie Strong pretty much capped his tenure on the Forty Acres with a loss in Lawrence.

This is the first trip back to Lawrence for the Horns since falling short to the Jayhawks at the end of the 2016 season. However, Texas football was able to pull off a two-touchdown victory over the Jayhawks at home last year. This Kansas team is coming off a losing streak of its own of late that most recently came against Texas Tech.

The only possible concern for the Horns against the Jayhawks is that tendency of Tom Herman-coached teams to play down to competition. Kansas really dropped off after a decent start that saw the team post more than 50 points over the lowly Rutgers Scarlet Knights out of the Big 10. Rutgers is having a terrible season of its own too.

There should be zero concerns for the Horns entering this game since it is the regular season finale. This is the point that hopefully marks the guide into the Big 12 Championship Game and bridges them into the College Football Playoff. Texas football should be able to cruise through this one.
