Texas Football: Ranking the difficulty of every remaining opponent for Longhorns
4. Oklahoma State Cowboys
Date: Oct. 27
Location: Boone Pickens Stadium, Stillwater, OK
Next up for the Horns is the Oklahoma State Cowboys on the road. The fact that we don’t know what to expect out of Oklahoma State in this game is what can make it so dangerous for Texas football. Moreover, the injury to starting quarterback Sam Ehlinger could hamper the offense if he misses his first start of the year.
Both Oklahoma State and Texas will come into this game off a bye week. In Week 8 of the 2018 college football season, only four Big 12 teams were in action. Most of the conference will be well-rested heading into Week 9. Each squad should be well-rested and adjusted to have the the best stretch run possible.
Oklahoma State has quite a few questions to answer including the quarterback situation involving senior Taylor Cornelius, the slipping defense, and the lacking offensive line. The past few games were nothing short of tragic for the Pokes in losses to Iowa State, Texas Tech, and Kansas State. Two of those three losses came by a pretty significant margin too.
Texas does get Oklahoma State on the road during a night game. But, Texas Tech was the last team to play at Boone Pickens Stadium during a night game and it resulted in a 24-point defeat for the Pokes. All things considered, Texas should be able to come away with a big victory over a struggling Oklahoma State squad.
