Numerous positive adaptions were made from Texas football during the 2018 off-season, but there’s still more that could happen this season.
The exit of the season’s first bye week leaves some fans skeptical as to how the back half of the regular season will play out for Texas football. There’s a handful of opponents that remain for the Longhorns with varying degrees of difficulty for each matchup. Time will tell if teams like the Iowa State Cyclones and Texas Tech Red Raiders are for real before Texas football faces them.
The mindset of the team coming out of the bye week will be transparent in the second half of the matchup against the Oklahoma State Cowboys. For the past five years, Oklahoma State was one of the more difficult opponents for Texas football to get the best of. Oklahoma State never really blew out the Horns, but some close victories for them frustrated the fans on the Forty Acres.
Some very common themes tend to emerge under teams led by head Texas football coach Tom Herman. That fact is true dating back to his time with the Houston Cougars, prior to the 2017 campaign. Adjusting to the current state of the Big 12 makes for an easier path to success for Texas this season.
