The path to knocking off the Oklahoma State Cowboys starts with recognizing trends from the past few weeks for Texas football.

The third night game of the season will also be the first on the road for Texas football. A bunch of new factors will line up for the Longhorns in the Oct. 27 Big 12 battle against the Oklahoma State Cowboys at Boone Pickens Stadium. Texas football is really yet to face a situation like this one it has around the corner in Stillwater in Week 9.

Oklahoma State is a team that the Horns should easily beat. Texas has a distinct talent and execution advantage on both sides of the ball. The difficulty facing the Horns is due to the underlying circumstances of this game, not the skill differential between these two teams.

And, Oklahoma State is yet to face a defense that is as fast and physical as Texas. This Texas defense might be the best that the Pokes face all season. Suffocating an Oklahoma State offense that is already struggling to put up points won’t be too hard. In its last loss to the Kansas State Wildcats, Oklahoma State put up only 12 points.

If you look a few weeks back, Oklahoma State was only able to post 17 points in what should’ve been a high scoring affair against the Texas Tech Red Raiders in Stillwater.

There’s ample opportunity for the Horns to run away with this game early. The lack of scoring coming from the Oklahoma State offense combined with the power of the Texas defense might just be enough to have a huge lead going into halftime.

Here’s a look at the definitive road map to beating the Oklahoma State Cowboys for the Texas Longhorns on Oct. 27.
