Keep Justice Hill’s cold streak alive

Oklahoma State is squandering the likely final year of junior running back Justice Hill in Stillwater with how his yards per carry have dwindled of late. Despite not really losing a step in terms of his quickness, agility, or strength from his sophomore campaign, Hill’s numbers are still way below the pace of what he was on last year.

The year started with Oklahoma State head coach Mike Gundy and offensive coordinator Mike Yurcich not giving enough carries to Hill. Now, the offensive scheme isn’t mixing it up enough and Hill is getting too many carries up the middle when the opposing defense loads the box and allows for little room to run.

Against Kansas State, Hill only got 11 carries for 41 rushing yards and no touchdowns. The loss to the Iowa State Cyclones was the low point for Hill this season where he took 24 carries for 66 yards and one touchdown. Although, the Iowa State defensive line is one of the most underrated in the nation and one of the absolute best in the Big 12.

Hill was huge for the Pokes against Texas Tech, Kansas, and Boise State. Yet, his effectiveness died off of late. It also seems like Yurcich and the Pokes abandoned trying to get the ball to Hill too early in its last loss against Kansas State. Stop Oklahoma State’s biggest offensive weapon on the ground, and Texas football has a much easier road to victory in Stillwater.
