The matchup game is always going to be an important factor for Texas football, especially to avoid an upset against Oklahoma State.

Out of the first bye week of the season, Texas football was hit with a difficult culmination of circumstances with what should be an easy victory over the Oklahoma State Cowboys. A night game at Boone Pickens Stadium on Homecoming weekend for Oklahoma State is a traditionally dire atmosphere for a team like the Longhorns to play in.

Factors like the talent differential and momentum coming into this key Big 12 matchup completely swing in favor of Texas football. Yet, having the complete backing of Stillwater for the Pokes could make things weird for the Horns. The way Oklahoma State played at home so far in Big 12 play inspires confidence for the chances for Texas to run away with this victory.

The uncertainty surrounding the injury to the starting quarterback for the Horns along with the raucous atmosphere in Stillwater combined to give the Horns just a field goal edge in the spread for this game. Even with those factors in play here, it seems like Vegas is slighting the Horns a ton.

A single trend that could be broken for the Horns makes this game beyond winnable. Being able to close out the Pokes in the second half would seal this win fairly early on. Oklahoma State hasn’t been a very good second half team this year either. Both of those points work in favor of the Horns.

Here’s a look at the five most problematic players that the Texas Longhorns will face from the Oklahoma State Cowboys on the road in Week 9.
