The start of the five game stretch that will end the 2018 regular season for Texas football is an unpredictable road test against Oklahoma State.

One of the unusually slimmest lines of Week 9 involving a top 25 team is Texas football taking on the Oklahoma State Cowboys. Texas football is only a one field goal favorite over Oklahoma State on the road in Week 9. Most of the speculation surrounding this game and whether the Pokes can actually pull off the upset against the Longhorns comes because of the shoulder injury to quarterback Sam Ehlinger.

Odds have it that Ehlinger will be ready to go against Oklahoma State, but his complete health will still be in question. Many think that junior Shane Buechele might get forced into action at some point. The lack of offense for the Horns with Buechele under center against the Baylor Bears is the primary reason for concern for him possibly playing against the Pokes.

If this meeting were based on previous resume and talent differential alone, Texas football would be a massive favorite over Oklahoma State by at least two or three possessions. Yet, that’s not the way things fall especially since no other Big 12 team has more wins against the Horns since 2010 than the Pokes.

Oklahoma State and the TCU Horned Frogs were two of the more difficult and unsuspecting Big 12 teams to consistently beat Texas. However, most of Oklahoma State’s wins of late in this series came by extremely close margins. That included last year’s 13-10 overtime win on the Forty Acres.

Here’s a look at the five bold predictions for the interesting matchup between the Texas Longhorns and Oklahoma State Cowboys on Oct. 27 in Stillwater.
