4. Brandon Jones nabs two picks

Most of the spotlight in the Texas football secondary goes to the true freshman rising star safety Caden Sterns and for good reason. Yet, another under the radar emergence in the secondary for the Horns finally came to junior safety Brandon Jones. Sterns leads the Horns in interceptions this fall with four.

Jones could be trailing right behind Sterns this season in interceptions with a big game in Week 9. Yet, it seems like Sterns and Jones flip-flop big games in the turnover department especially against passing games like that of Oklahoma State. In Oklahoma State’s Week 7 loss to Kansas State, its passing game managed two picks and no touchdowns.

Against a much better secondary like that of Texas football, Oklahoma State might have a tough time taking care of the football while using the passing attack. Jones already hurt the other main Oklahoma school with an interception earlier in the season, when he snagged one off the Sooners in Red River.

Jones is also making an impact for the Horns with 49 total tackles and four tackles for loss this year. His stat line is more well-rounded than that of Sterns since he also has one fumble recovery. If Texas is to win the turnover battle yet again, it should be behind its ball hawking safeties with a few interceptions and/or fumble recoveries.
