3. Keaontay Ingram and Tre Watson combine for three total touchdowns

The best things come in threes for the Horns this season, which would ring very true if the ground game has one of its best outings of the 2018 campaign. True freshman running back Keaontay Ingram snagged his first individual 100-rushing yard performance against Baylor whilst averaging more than five yards per carry.

Recent reports indicate that Ingram will have his workload closely monitored from here on out for the Horns. Until the end of the regular season, Ingram might not get a heavy workload unless it’s drastically needed in a season-defining matchup. That doesn’t mean that Ingram won’t find himself in the end zone once or twice against Oklahoma State.

The other piece to the puzzle for the Texas football ground game is senior running back Tre Watson. In terms of overall production, Watson has tailed off a bit of late. For a quickly thinning Oklahoma State front seven, Watson and Ingram could have one of their better showings of the year thus far.

At this point, common sense would tell you that at the very least Watson and Ingram are going to get a significant workload out of the backfield for the rest of the year. If Herman is very concerned about keeping Ingram’s workload as low as possible while still having him be effective, then Watson will still be frequently found lining up in the backfield.
