Texas football sits at 6-1 and should be fresh off the bye week ready to finish out the season. What will it take to get a win in Stillwater? We dissect.

Texas football is experiencing the best seven game start to a season since 2009 when they not only won their first seven games, but their first 13 before losing to the Alabama Crimson Tide in the 2009 BCS National Championship Game.

The Horns currently sit at 6-1 with wins over the likes of the USC Trojans, TCU Horned Frogs, and Oklahoma Sooners. Saying they have bounced back from their week one loss to Maryland would be an under statement.

Texas football currently sits at 4-0 in Big 12 play which has them sitting alone at the top of the conference standings. West Virginia, Oklahoma, and Texas Tech sit one game behind Texas, at 3-1 in Big 12 play.

On Oct. 27, head Texas football coach Tom Herman and the Longhorns will travel to Stillwater to take on the Oklahoma State Cowboys. Oklahoma State fared well in non-conference play, jumping out to a 3-0 start with a big win over then 17th ranked Boise State. Since conference play has started, the Pokes have not fared as well.

Oklahoma State sits at 1-3 in conference with their only win coming against Kansas. Like Texas, Oklahoma State is coming into this game off of a bye week. However, they are coming in off a 31-12 loss in Manhattan Kansas, a place the Longhorns went and secured a win in week five earlier this season.

Both teams should come into this matchup recovered physically and mentally. The Pokes are looking for a big home win to turn their season around while the Longhorns are looking to continue their hunt for a Big 12 title.

It should be a good one Saturday night in Stillwater, OK. Here are your keys to victory for the Texas Longhorns against Oklahoma State in Week 9.
