Getting back to business for Texas football should be more based off what we saw from them in the second half than the first in Week 9.

It took a while to get here, but now No. 15 ranked Texas football had that letdown much of the nation was anticipating. Yet, it came in horrible fashion on the road against a very stingy opponent in the Oklahoma State Cowboys. Shaking this off is going to happen fast with a very difficult three game stretch coming up against the West Virginia Mountaineers, Iowa State Cyclones, and the Texas Tech Red Raiders.

For the Texas Longhorns, take away the positives from this game and leave the negatives in the past. Many of the ideals that head Texas football coach Tom Herman instilled in his team after wins this year should be sticking even after a loss. It’s a tough pill to swallow, but this team has to pack up and move on to the next game.

This 38-35 loss moves Texas football to a 6-2 (4-1 Big 12) record on the season. This is also the second loss to an unranked team this season for the Horns. Texas has a lot to get together before the last four games of the regular season, but there’s still a lot to play for. Just because the College Football Playoff opportunity is shot at this point doesn’t mean the 2018 campaign is lost.

The loss here was just one of a number of games this fall that the Horns either played up or down to the competition. The numerous nail-biters this year caught up to this team. It almost happened against teams like the Baylor Bear and Kansas State Wildcats, but Oklahoma State was too much ultimately.

Here’s a look at the five biggest overreactions from the loss for the Texas Longhorns to the Oklahoma State Cowboys in Stillwater in Week 9.
