Texas Football: 5 reasons the Longhorns will beat West Virginia
A potential for a big response to the second loss of the year for Texas football comes with a top 15 matchup against the West Virginia Mountaineers.
The Big 12 slate for Week 10 is filled with some entertaining matchups on tap, with the highlighting battle featuring No. 15 ranked Texas football and the underdog No. 12 ranked West Virginia Mountaineers. Texas could use the bounce back performance in a very important game at home at Darrell K. Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium.
Some other key matchups around the Big 12 include the Oklahoma State Cowboys taking on the Baylor Bears and the Oklahoma Sooners facing the Texas Tech Red Raiders. Once again, the Big 12 picture could be massively shifted in Week 10. The loss to Oklahoma State, for Texas football, changed the entire picture for the Big 12 standings and the conference’s national contention too.
This is also going to be one of the most electric offense that the Horns face the entire season. West Virginia is coming off a 58-14 drubbing of Baylor in a weeknight outing in Week 9. The Mountaineers definitely recovered from the disappointing 30-14 upset at the hands of the Iowa State Cyclones in Week 7.
There’s little to no turnaround time for the Horns to get ready for West Virginia. Comparatively, West Virginia gets a long time to prepare for the Horns since that last game for Week 9 was two nights before most of the other action. That does put Texas at odds when it needs every advantage it can get.
This is also a matchup of teams looking to stay alive likely in the race to land in a New Year’s Six Bowl at the end of the regular season. Before that can happen, Texas and West Virginia looks to compete in the Big 12 Championship Game this year.
Here’s a look at the five definitive reasons why the Texas Longhorns can beat the West Virginia Mountaineers on the Forty Acres on Nov. 3.
