2. Sam Ehlinger avoids key mistakes, again

Last week while taking on Oklahoma State, quarterback Sam Ehlinger had another solid display with an extreme lack of support from the rest of the offense. There were few bright spots offensively for the Horns in Week 9, but Ehlinger and true freshman running back Keaontay Ingram were two of them.

Ingram continued to show his development into a well-rounded running back with his first receiving touchdown this season. He also kept the trend of averaging no less than 4.5 yards per carry in any game this year. All in all, Ehlinger and Ingram are starting to form a nice dynamic duo in the backfield for Texas.

Since Texas football trailed most of the way while Oklahoma State tried to seal the win, Ingram didn’t get too much work on the ground as the coaching staff would’ve liked. Yet, Ehlinger racked up 330 total yards and 4 touchdowns with no interceptions to give the Horns a chance in the 38-35 defeat.

Ehlinger should also expect a bounce back from some of his top weapons at wide receiver in juniors Lil’Jordan Humphrey and Collin Johnson. Humphrey and Johnson didn’t have their best games in the loss to Oklahoma State and could bounce back in a big way against a West Virginia secondary that they hold a matchup advantage over.
