Missing the athletic and quick senior guard Kerwin Roach II for the season opener due to a violation of team rules from last year can hurt this locker room. Yet, Roach II seems to be handling this situation quite well as his Twitter timeline was the area where the news broke to Texas basketball fans.

Roach II was one of the surprise returning players for Texas basketball for 2018-19. He waited until right before the 2018 NBA Draft to declare his return to the Forty Acres to play out the final season of his eligibility at the college level. Since he was considered a legitimate second round prospect for that NBA Draft, he didn’t return because he was way too much of a long shot to get actually selected.

Of course the Horns are happy to have Roach II back in the mix for a last go-around. He’s among the most inconsistent, but talented players, that this program saw on campus in the past three seasons. Senior season is when a player like Roach II can finally connect all the dots and come as close as he could get to reaching his ceiling regularly.

Due to him missing some scrimmages during the preseason and the season opener against Eastern Illinois, Roach II could take some extended time to get going for 2018-19. Roach II is a prime candidate to lead the Horns in scoring this season and facilitate the offense while posting one of the highest player efficiency ratings on the team.
