5. Kenny Robinson, Safety

A true freshman that burst onto the scene last season is continuing his rise to prominence now as a sophomore. The standout second-year West Virginia safety Kenny Robinson is holding this secondary together to form one of the most underrated groups in the Big 12. Robinson is the biggest reason for that rise.

Most people think that this West Virginia defense is still the one we’re used to from year’s past. Once West Virginia gets some better exposure on the national stage, like it will against Texas football in Week 10, the defense should start gaining more respect. There’s no better way to do it than with Texas and the Oklahoma Sooners both on tap.

On the season, Robinson has two interceptions and 45 total tackles. Both of his picks came in the same game, in the West Virginia road win over the Texas Tech Red Raiders. Robinson will be looking to come up big with some more interceptions on the road against a Big 12 foe in the state of Texas.

Robinson has tremendous instincts as he flies around the defensive backfield looking for any opportunity he has to nab a pick. In less than two full seasons in his collegiate career, Robinson already has five interceptions and is looking for the second against the Horns. And, his second career defensive touchdown came against the Horns last year.
