Texas Football: How the Longhorns can stop Will Grier
No. 17 Texas football goes head-to-head with a top quarterback in the nation in Week 10 in West Virginia’s senior Will Grier.
One of the best quarterbacks in the nation will suit up for the West Virginia Mountaineers to take the field on the Forty Acres in Week 10. This promises to be one of the biggest tests of the year for this defense for Texas football and for the preparation levels of the coaching staff. Head Texas football coach Tom Herman is sure to have his team up and ready for this Big 12 battle.
Last year, Texas football took care of the threat of the West Virginia offense by doing something that probably won’t happen, and no one should wish for, this time around. Senior quarterback Will Grier was knocked out of last year’s matchup against the Texas Longhorns in the first half with a gruesome broken finger suffered while trying to dive for the goal line and hitting the pylon.
Grier is also showing no signs of injury issues heading into this game, or at any point this fall. Yet, even the Texas football starting quarterback Sam Ehlinger still could have some lingering issues with his shoulder sprain suffered in the win over the Baylor Bears in Week 7. The script flipped in that regard for these two teams.
In effect, the Horns need to take a different approach to slowing down a true Heisman contender and first round prospect for the 2018 NFL Draft. He is a bit mistake prone this year, but he was in year’s past too. All in all, Grier is putting up some monster stats again in 2018.
Here’s a look at the road map for the Texas Longhorns to stop superstar quarterback Will Grier and the offense for the West Virginia Mountaineers in Week 10.
