A very important matchup that would shape the Big 12 picture for the rest of 2018 delivered on the hype between Texas football and West Virginia.

In one of the biggest matchups in the nation in Week 10, No. 17 Texas football battled the difficult No. 13 ranked West Virginia Mountaineers at home on the Forty Acres. A very electric atmosphere pushed Texas football at DKR in what amounted to a very entertaining game between two teams looking for a spot in the 2018 Big 12 Championship Game next month.

Head Texas football coach Tom Herman came into this game looking to bounce back from one of the biggest letdowns of his tenure with this program so far. Last week seemed pretty easy to shake off for the Horns in the first half, though. Responding quick was a huge key to getting back on track and Texas was at least able to do that.

While the Horns were eliminated from College Football Playoff contention in Week 9, head coach Dana Holgorsen and his West Virginia squad were still very much alive if it was able to win out. This matchup against the Horns was one of the toughest hurdles remaining in the regular season fro the Mountaineers, though.

It was hard to know what to expect from both of these teams coming into this game. Texas plays up and down to its competition while West Virginia couldn’t get much consistency of late. Both teams did find the rhythm in this game to make for a Big 12 classic.

The way the game ended for the Horns was just about as unfortunate as it gets with things coming right down to the wire. West Virginia converted on a two-point conversion to get the one point win.

Here’s a look at the takeaways from the showdown between the Texas Longhorns and West Virginia Mountaineers in Week 10 in Austin.
