1. Non-conference slate gets easier, for a bit

The roller coaster ride that Texas basketball has through the early portion of the schedule outside of the Big 12 lasts throughout the month of November. The next two games for the Horns falls against Louisiana-Monroe and The Citadel. Texas should at least be double-digit point favorites in each of those two games.

After facing ULM and The Citadel on Nov. 12 and Nov. 16, the Horns have to travel to Las Vegas, NV, for a very challenging invitational tournament. The Continental Tire Las Vegas Invitational even starts out with a top tier team in the country in head coach Roy Williams and the North Carolina Tar Heels in game one.

Then, Texas likely gets to face another top 25 team in either the Michigan State Spartans or the UCLA Bruins. If Texas does get to face UCLA in the second game of the invitational, it would be nice to see this win both on the recruiting trail and on the court this season. UCLA was the other school that the highly touted Baker was choosing between on Nov. 8 when he gave his pledge to the Horns.

Yet, the point here is that the Horns need to be ready for what lies ahead and probably need to carry an undefeated record all the way up to Nov. 22. It’s toughest test before facing the Tar Heels is now out of the way by claiming the overtime victory over the Razorbacks. Even beyond these two difficult games coming up in Las Vegas this month, the Horns still have to face the No. 24 Purdue Boilermakers, Providence Friars, and VCU Rams out-of-conference this year.
