3. This is already an improvement from last season

The marker for progress for the Texas football program heading into the 2018 campaign was at the very least winning more games than did in Herman’s first year. Texas had seven wins for the 2017 season, which was better than what Charlie Strong did in his final year on the Forty Acres. Herman improved off that. More progress in Herman’s second year at the helm is key.

Texas has not surpassed the win total from 2017 yet, but it should be likely with the Kansas Jayhawks still on the schedule this fall. Yes, the last time the Horns took the field in Lawrence to face the Jayhawks it resulted in a horribly embarrassing defeat. No, this shouldn’t be the narrative when the team revisits Lawrence in 2018.
