2. Lil’Jordan Humphrey likely headed for the NFL

Texas football has two wide receivers that seem likely to be headed to the NFL one year early with how each is playing at this moment. The first is the versatile and elusive junior wideout Lil’Jordan Humphrey who is having a true breakout season in making his name known across the entire country in 2018.

The other was pretty much expected to depart one year early in junior wide receiver Collin Johnson. For pretty much the entire season thus far, Johnson and Humphrey went back and forth as the primary target in the passing game and the receiving leader for this team. Humphrey did hold the edge for most of the season, though, and he does leading up to Week 12.

In the absence of an injured Johnson in the win over Texas Tech, Humphrey put together another huge game with eight receptions for just under 160 yards and two touchdowns. More than half of the passing yards for the Horns in this game went to Humphrey, and half of the passing touchdowns too.

Leading up to the 2019 NFL Draft, the Horns have a lot to lose again in terms of early departures. Herman and the Horns should hope with everything they have that Humphrey decides to come back for another season. That doesn’t seem likely with both Johnson and Humphrey getting pundit love for the upcoming NFL Draft as high as late in the first round.
