Texas Football: A look back at this year’s senior class
By Shane Black
Rest of the four-year players
Anthony Wheeler, LB: As a 2018 captain, Wheeler has started every game. He has 29 career starts and has appeared in 47 games. Wheeler has a career 202 tackles, 12 tackles for loss, 3.5 sacks, three forced fumbles, two fumble recoveries, and two pass deflections. He has been a staple in the middle of this defense for the last three seasons.
Charles Omenihu, DL: Omenihu is a four-year player with 47 career appearances and 29 starts. He has been a consistent starter since the middle of his sophomore year. He was named to the Third-Team All-Big 12 preseason team this year but he has played like a first teamer. In 2018, Omenihu has 34 tackles, 12 tackles for loss, and 7.5 sacks. For his career, Omenihu has 104 tackles, 24 tackles for loss, 14.5 sacks, four fumble recoveries, and one forced fumble.
Cameron Townsend, LB: Townsend redshirted in 2015, and has played on special teams in 2016 and in 2018. He has played in 18 career games and was a one time member of the Big 12 Commissioner’s Honor Roll.
Patrick Vahe, OL: Vahe did not redshirt and has started 41 of the 44 games he has played in his career. That is unheard of for an offensive linemen. He was named honorable mention All-Big 12 in 2017, was freshman All-America and honorable mention Big-12 honors in 2015. Vahe started his first 10 games as a freshman before missing the last two due to injury. He has started every game junior and senior year. Vahe will be very missed on this offensive front.
