Few players came on as strong as senior defensive end Charles Omenihu for the Horns this year. He’s a star for the Texas defensive line. Omenihu outpaced the production of fellow senior defensive end Breckyn Hager. The two were supposed to fall in opposite places for the 2019 NFL Draft compared to where they’re at now.

Since Omenihu will have used all his eligibility up, he’s an important 2019 NFL Draft prospect. Gil Brandt, an NFL.com senior analyst, stated last off-season that he believed Omenihu is a top 50 prospect for the 2019 NFL Draft. If the former vice president of player personnel for the Dallas Cowboys said that about Omenihu during the off-season, he must hold him in very high regard now.

Omenihu had a breakout senior campaign with 12.5 tackles for loss, 7.5 sacks, one forced fumble, and one fumble recovery so far in 2018. He has at least two games left to add to the numbers. The speed off the edge improved this year. Omenihu has the size and speed to be a real force on an NFL defensive line.

The defensive line class for the upcoming draft is very deep. Between three or four potential first and second round picks from the Clemson Tigers, to the star Houston Cougars defensive tackle Ed Oliver, this is a stacked class of lineman. Omenihu could be a solid late round addition to an NFL pass rush.
