Both cornerbacks are good candidates for the 2019 NFL Draft. Senior Kris Boyd should be picked higher than the starter opposite of him in Davante Davis. Boyd has the speed and agility that NFL scouts want. Davis has the physicality and size to excel in the NFL. He has some parts of his game that don’t measure up to what’s needed in the NFL.

Boyd is highly touted across the board. He’s one of the few Horns that had some draft hype throughout the year. There were a few factors holding him back, though. He’s had off the field issues since his true freshman campaign. The locker room incident on social media involving the Texas A&M Aggies is fresh on some people’s minds.

This year saw Boyd have some struggles in the Big 12. He had a difficult time containing the likes of Oklahoma State wide receiver Tylan Wallace, Oklahoma’s Marquise Brown, and West Virginia’s David Sills V. Mistiming jumps, getting beat over the top, and facing distractions off the field are a few of the issues for Boyd in 2018.

Some pundits are very high on Boyd this year. Drafttek.com ranks Boyd as the No. 24 prospect in the nation and the third best cornerback. Walter Football has Boyd ranked as the 19th best cornerback in this class. There’s a difference of opinion for Boyd’s draft stock depending on where you look. He should fall as a middle round selection.
