Texas Football: What we learned from win over Kansas
The close call against the Kansas Jayhawks didn’t present all negative i signs in a narrow seven-point road victory for Texas football.
The regular season finale delivered on any excitement or thrill that Texas football fans were seeking to end the month of November. No. 14 ranked Texas football battled the Kansas Jayhawks in a Big 12 regular season finale for both teams that had a lot on the line. Kansas was looking to round out the tenure under head coach David Beaty in the proper fashion. Texas football was pushing to make a spot in the Big 12 Championship Game next weekend.
It took Texas football a while to get things started in this game against the Jayhawks. In the first half, the Horns were able to only put up seven points. Since the Texas offense only managed seven points, it was a good thing the defense was able to keep the Kansas offense off the board early on.
However, the third quarter looked to be where the Horns would pull away, with two touchdowns providing a 14-point lead at one point. The Texas passing game finally got things going in the third quarter, supplemented by consistent production on the ground.
Although, a late run from Kansas kept it close until the very end. Kansas wouldn’t give up in the fourth quarter and pushed the Horns to the brink. The only things that kept the Jayhawks away from tying the game late was a made field goal from freshman kicker Cameron Dicker and a red zone stand from the defense.
