Texas Basketball: 5 thoughts after Las Vegas Invitational
We’re officially at the midway point of the non-conference slate for Texas basketball. Where is this team at six games out of Big 12 play.
After a solid showing in the 2018 Continental Tire Las Vegas Invitational, Texas Basketball enters a key stretch of the 2018-19 regular season. The second half of the non-conference slate is about to start with the Las Vegas Invitational in the books. The next game up for Texas basketball comes against a Radford team that owns a 4-1 record. Texas basketball gets Radford on Nov. 30.
Texas basketball needs to get back on the right track with a win against Radford after its loss to round out the Las Vegas Invitational. Radford is a quality opponent that could be similar to what the Horns saw in the Eastern Illinois Panthers and Louisiana-Monroe Warhawks.
There’s still three big non-conference games remaining for the Horns in the non-conference slate. One of those three games comes against the former team of head Texas basketball coach Shaka Smart, the VCU Rams. The other two big opponents before Big 12 play starts include the No. 24 Purdue Boilermakers and Providence Friars.
We also should highlight the Horns non-conference game in the Big 12/SEC Challenge that falls in the middle of conference play, against the Georgia Bulldogs on Jan. 26. That matchup against Georgia leaves four big opportunities left to pick up quality victories for the resume building toward to the NCAA Tournament.
Here’s a look at the five thoughts for the Texas Longhorns after the Continental Tire Las Vegas Invitational.
