Texas Football: 5 reasons the Longhorns will beat OU in the Big 12 Title Game
Will the nine year Big 12 Championship drought end for Texas football with an opportunity to defeat Oklahoma for the second time in one season?
A magical run for Texas football was all capped off in the regular season with a very close win over the Kansas Jayhawks on Black Friday. Texas football would’ve liked to get a more comfortable win over the Jayhawks to round out the regular season. But when it’s all said and done, it got the win which is all that matters.
With that 24-17 win over Kansas, Texas football drew within a single win of reaching double-digits on the season. Under head Texas football coach Tom Herman, this team rose to the occasion enough times to make a run to the 2018 Big 12 Championship Game.
The Big 12 gets the most ideal outcome, considering the circumstances, for its title game this fall. Texas football battles the Oklahoma Sooners in a rematch of the Red River Showdown. The first time these two teams met in Red River this year, it resulted in a 48-45 last-minute win for Texas over the Sooners on a game-winning field goal. That three-point win is where freshman kicker Cameron Dicker officially became a legend on the Forty Acres.
Texas heads into this Red River rematch with a record of 9-3 (7-2 Big 12). Oklahoma comes in with a record of 11-1 (8-1 Big 12). The only loss for the Sooners this year was against the Horns. That means Oklahoma has to be motivated to get revenge and continue its quest on to the College Football Playoff.
Here’s a look at the five reasons why the Texas Longhorns will take down the Oklahoma Sooners in the Big 12 Championship Game in Arlington, TX, at AT&T Stadium on Dec. 1.
