The College Football Playoff and yet another Big 12 Championship are both well within sight for Oklahoma this year. Head coach Lincoln Riley is looking to take the Sooners to the second consecutive Playoff berth. Considering this berth would come with a different starting quarterback, it would be a magnificent feat for Riley.
If Oklahoma is able to get revenge on the Horns for its only loss of the year so far, the Selection Committee would likely give them an edge over the other bubble teams for the Playoff. Oklahoma will be fighting the Georgia Bulldogs, Ohio State Buckeyes, and UCF Knights for the final spot in all likelihood.
Texas football would love nothing more than being the sole reason that its biggest conference rival, and possibly the biggest overall, doesn’t win a Big 12 Title or get into the Playoff. Playing the role of spoiler is something this Texas squad excels in. Just ask the Baylor Bears and Sooners teams from year’s past.
A loss here would be detrimental for Oklahoma’s once promising 2018 campaign. This Oklahoma offense is of national title-caliber due to an NFL-level offensive line and a plethora of talent at the skill positions. The defense is what would ultimately cost the Sooners this year in the run for a spot in the Playoff field.
