Texas Football: 5 reasons the Longhorns will beat OU in the Big 12 Title Game
2. Texas has the experience of facing Kyler Murray
The Heisman race looks to be narrowed down to two contenders. In the past few weeks, Oklahoma quarterback Kyler Murray gained some ground compared to the Alabama Crimson Tide star sophomore quarterback Tua Tagovailoa. Murray and Tagovailoa could be the two that decide the 2018 Heisman Trophy winner.
The Heisman might not go to an Oklahoma quarterback for the second straight year. It is a shame that could be the deciding factor when it comes down to it between Murray and Tagovailoa. Texas football could have a say in what happens between those two quarterbacks. Murray faces Texas in conference championship week while Tagovailoa and the Crimson Tide faces Georgia.
In the first meeting between the Horns and Sooners, Murray was held in check for three quarters. The fourth quarter is where it all unraveled for the Texas defense. Murray led a scoring spurt for the Sooners that nearly brought the game to overtime in the fourth quarter. He brought the Sooners back from down 45-24 to even the game up late.
The Texas defense figured out how to bottle up the Oklahoma offense for three quarters. That feat on its own is very important for defensive coordinator Todd Orlando to have his side of the ball ready for the Sooners. The Oklahoma offense is also prone to turnovers, which gives the Horns another avenue to claiming the victory.
