1. Nothing would be better than spoiling Oklahoma’s season

For the past few years in the Big 12, the conference came down to a de facto title game in Bedlam between Oklahoma and Oklahoma State. The Pokes are now out of the picture and the game that would draw the biggest national audience is set for the Big 12 Championship in 2018. Texas football is also a more legitimate threat to Oklahoma’s reign over the Big 12.

It would be quite the feat for the Sooners to win the Big 12 four straight seasons. Texas is looming large to unseat Oklahoma at the top of the Big 12 for years to come under Herman. Oklahoma fans would be devastated to have its team lose twice to its biggest rival in one year and miss the Playoff completely because of the Horns.

We’ve mentioned often how much is on the line here for Oklahoma. Texas has a lot on the line too. An appearance in a New Year’s Six Bowl is very possible if the Sooners go down in the Big 12 Championship Game. Texas could be in the Sugar Bowl against one of the best teams out of the SEC.

If Texas loses, it could find itself in the Alamo Bowl at the worst. Texas has two opportunities left to reach the 10-win mark and have a really successful 2018 campaign. Locking that accomplishment up in the Big 12 Championship Game and roll into a New Year’s Six Bowl with a likely top eight ranking in the College Football Playoff Rankings would be massive.
