The Big 12’s chances to stay alive for the College Football Playoff or to get two teams into New Year’s Six Bowls boils down to Oklahoma-Texas football.

One of the games to watch during conference championship week is the Big 12 Title Game which pits the Oklahoma Sooners against Texas football. On Dec. 1, AT&T Stadium will play host to a game with national implications for both the Big 12 Championship Game and the College Football Playoff picture.

The 2018 Big 12 Championship Game kicks off at 11 a.m. in Arlington, TX, on Dec. 1. Oklahoma opened as an eight-point favorite over Texas football, and the line hasn’t moved much since. That spread is also very similar to the one we saw for the initial meeting between Oklahoma and Texas football.

This will be the first time that the Horns and Sooners ever meet in a Big 12 Championship Game since it wasn’t really possible previous to the 2017 campaign. Last year was the first time that the Big 12 brought back its conference title game since it was done away with after the 2011 campaign.

Texas football will be looking to win its second straight against Oklahoma, and the second time in the same season. The initial meeting between these two teams in the Red River Showdown produced an instant classic with the Horns winning by a final score of 48-45. That three-point victory came on a field goal in the dying seconds of the fourth quarter so Texas could hold onto the lead.

Here’s a look at the 10 definitive reasons why all fans should be excited for the Big 12 Championship Game, pitting the Texas Longhorns against the Oklahoma Sooners on Dec. 1.
