2. This game probably comes down to the wire

Most of the Red River Showdowns that we get now come down the final minutes of the fourth quarter. That was no different in the two years that Herman and Oklahoma head coach Lincoln Riley were at the helm. Two of the youngest head coaches in the Big 12 could soon be heading up the clear cut top two programs. Although, Oklahoma is holding up its end of the bargain already.

The first meeting of Red River lived up to the billing in coming right down to the wire in the fourth quarter. It didn’t seem like the Sooners would be able to make this a game with its 21-point deficit early in the fourth quarter. That’s where the effectiveness of the quick strike Oklahoma offense came to the forefront.

The saving grace for the Horns in the dying seconds of the fourth quarter was true freshman kicker Cameron Dicker. Between winking at the camera before nailing that final field goal attempt and winning the biggest regular season game of the year for Texas, Dicker immediately went down as a legend in the Texas football program.

Even though Texas football topped the Sooners once this season, it might be hard to complete the feat twice in the same year. The 7.5-point edge that Vegas gave to the Sooners over the Horns is too far of a spread between the two teams. This is going to be a close game that comes down to the final minutes in all likelihood.
