3. Sam Ehlinger gets more total yards than Kyler Murray

We’ll turn the focus of these bold predictions more toward the Texas football side of things. Texas has to be at its best to be able to knock off such a good Oklahoma team, led by head coach Lincoln Riley, for the second time in the same year. Murray and the Sooners are going to have an enormous chip on their shoulder.

On Oct. 6, Texas rode the coattails of sophomore quarterback Sam Ehlinger to victory over Oklahoma for the first time since the 2015 campaign. Texas now looks to extend its winning streak over the Sooners to two games. Ehlinger is going to have to be just as good, if not better, than he was in the first outing against Oklahoma this fall.

Last game against Oklahoma, Ehlinger posted nearly 400 total yards and five touchdowns. He also didn’t toss a single pick. But, Ehlinger has only four picks this season, and all of those came in just two halves of football against the Maryland Terrapins and Kansas Jayhawks. He needs to manage the turnovers much better here than he did last week against Kansas.

Ehlinger was just 10 yards off matching the number of total yards Murray posted exactly in Red River earlier this year. That might make predicting that Ehlinger racks up more total yards than Murray not so bold. But, Ehlinger had a rough outing against Kansas with his shoulder sprain lingering, and that could have an impact here. Let’s hope for the best in his recovery during the week leading up to the Big 12 Title Game.
