A 17-point swing occurred for Texas basketball in the upset loss at home on Nov. 30 against the Radford Highlanders, 62-59.

Just as it broke into both polls for the first time this season, No 17 ranked Texas basketball coughed up its momentum coming out of the Continental Tire Las Vegas Invitational.

Through and through, this weekend for the Texas athletic department hasn’t gone too well. The future does look bright for both Texas basketball and the Texas football program, but it didn’t get the results desired on Nov. 30 and Dec. 1. Texas basketball hosted the Radford Highlanders on No.v 30 at the Frank Erwin Center looking to keep its losing streak from extending to two games.

Texas basketball was coming off a 78-68 loss to the Michigan State Spartans in the final round of the Las Vegas Invitational for its first defeat of the regular season. That gave the Horns a record of 5-1 coming into this game, which Radford held too.

However, Radford kept close with the Horns in both halves and didn’t let the favorite win like it was supposed to. Texas was a 14-point favorite over Radford at tip-off. Keeping with the spread is something the Horns haven’t excelled at this season. Texas has only covered the spread once as a favorite this season. It can add an outright loss to its resume when it enters a game as a favorite.

The final score here went in Radford’s favor, 62-59. A late run from Texas in the final minute didn’t pan out with a few important missed three-point attempts.

Here’s a look at the five takeaways from the disappointing upset loss for the Texas Longhorns on Nov. 30 against the Radford Highlanders at home.
