3. Kyler Murray should win the Heisman

The Heisman Trophy finalists for 2018 comes down to two quarterbacks. Whoever the third finalist is for the Heisman Trophy ceremony will get the honor of attending the event, but that’s about it. That’s due to the third Heisman finalist playing falling in line far behind the other two candidates that stood out the entire way this fall.

The first of the two Heisman finalists that has an actual shot at taking home the award is sophomore Alabama quarterback Tua Tagovailoa. For most of the 2018 campaign, Tagovailoa was the heavy favorite to win the Heisman all the way up until the final weeks of the regular season. It wasn’t until the SEC Championship Game that Tagovailoa had his favorite status called into question.

Tagovailoa will be taking on junior Oklahoma quarterback Kyler Murray in the battle for the Heisman Trophy. Murray carries nearly 5,000 total yards and 51 total touchdowns into the Heisman ceremony. In the Big 12 Championship Game, Murray tossed three touchdowns and racked up 379 passing yards.

The side-by-side stat comparison between Murray and Tagovailoa dramatically favors an Oklahoma quarterback winning the Heisman for the second straight year. You could also argue that Murray was much more valuable to his team this fall. Murray has more than 1,000 total yards more than Tagovailoa this season, and nine more total touchdowns.
