1. Big 12 gets shot at redemption against Georgia

Last year, Georgia faced Oklahoma in a College Football Playoff Semifinal game that determined who would face Alabama in the national title game. Georgia won its matchup against Oklahoma in one of the most entertaining and exhilarating games of the entire 2017 season. That win for Georgia had to come in overtime against Baker Mayfield and the Sooners.

Now, Oklahoma gets a shot at downing the Crimson Tide for the first time ever in the College Football Playoff-era. If Georgia hung on against the Crimson Tide in the SEC Championship Game, we’d probably be talking about how Oklahoma would be facing the Clemson Tigers in the semifinal game and the Notre Dame Fighting Irish would battle Georgia for the second year in a row.

Moreover, the Dawgs might have the motivation factor called into question after it landed a spot in a New Year’s Six Bowl against the No. 15 team in the nation instead of making its way into the Playoff. Georgia was very close to getting into the Playoff, just a few minutes off before falling short against Alabama.

This will be the third postseason in the past four years that Georgia faces a team out of the Big 12. Last year pitted the Dawgs against the Sooners and the TCU Horned Frogs had a crack at them in the Liberty Bowl to cap the 2015 campaign. Texas football has it shot to be the only Big 12 team that downs Georgia in the past four years.
