The best time of the year for college football is here with bowl season upon us. Where does Texas football rank in its bowl game against Georgia?

We’ve reached a point for the Texas football program that many thought wasn’t possible this fall. After Texas football was upset by the Maryland Terrapins during Labor Day Weekend to open the 2018 campaign, many thought this was just another down season for the program.

The New Year’s Six Bowl lineup is loaded this year with entertaining matchups featuring a number of blue blood programs. Having a team like Texas football back at the ranks of the top tier bowl games in the nation makes the action much more exiting and worth watching.

Texas football gets the Georgia Bulldogs in the Allstate Sugar Bowl for the program’s first New Year’s Six/BCS Bowl appearance since losing in the 2009 national title game. A few other of the New Year’s Six worth watching includes the Peach Bowl between the Florida Gators and Michigan Wolverines,

Teams like Georgia, Ohio State, and UCF will be looking to prove the status that each belonged in the College Football Playoff field. Georgia and UCF were the first two teams left out of the Playoff and the mindset might not be as focused on each respective bowl game as the opponent. Those teams are likely to still leave it all out on the field, but missing the Playoff by that narrow of a margin can kill morale.

Moreover, this list isn’t just determined by the ranking of each team or the specific brand name of the bowl game. Other factors included are the future implications for the teams, history of each matchup, specific offensive/defensive matchups, and player health. An injury ravaged team can make for a less competitive opponent come Bowl season.

We’re also including some of the better non-New Year’s Six games that are worth watching. The Big 12 has a host of teams competing in what looks to be entertaining postseason games. Part of the ranking also includes the Playoff Semifinal matchups. Here’s a look at the ranking of the New Year’s Six Bowl games for 2018.
