6. Peach Bowl

Matchup: Florida Gators vs. Michigan Wolverines

Date: Dec. 29

Location: Atlanta, GA

The amount of times that the Florida Gators and Michigan Wolverines have faced off of late is getting ridiculous. Florida and Michigan opened up each team’s 2017 campaign with a doozy of an opener and a season where both ultimately disappointed. Those two also faced off in the Citrus Bowl to cap the 2015 season.

Since the turn of the century, Florida and Michigan have faced each other four teams. Each of those four games went in favor of the Wolverines. The last two meetings involved a 33-17 victory in 2017 and a 41-7 thrashing in the Citrus Bowl in 2016 that both went very poorly for the Gators.

This year, Florida and Michigan had successful seasons. Michigan likely had bigger aspirations under head coach Jim Harbaugh than the Peach Bowl a few weeks back. But, Michigan fell short against the Ohio State Buckeyes once again which resulted in the appearance in the Citrus Bowl. If not for that loss, Michigan might hold a spot in the College Football Playoff now.

Meanwhile, Florida is coming off a successful season under first-year head coach Dan Mullen. The former Mississippi State Bulldogs head coach turned this program around in a hurry. Michigan does need to watch out for the Gators. Florida picked up some big wins this year against the LSU Tigers, Florida State Seminoles, South Carolina Gamecocks, and Mississippi State.
