It has to be a priority of this program to add the first five-star high school prospect to the 2019 Texas football recruiting class. Five-star athlete Bru McCoy is already a favorite of this fan base and would be a beloved player on the Forty Acres. He is rated as a top eight prospect in the nation, which could give the Horns that elusive boost into the top five classes that the program is searching for.

The issue with landing McCoy is that there’s a ton of programs more geographically relevant to him hot in pursuit that could be favored ahead of the Horns. The USC Trojans, Washington Huskies, and UCLA Bruins are all west coast programs that put in a ton of work to the recruitment of McCoy.

The final commitment from McCoy should come down to USC, Texas, and potentially the Oklahoma Sooners. According to the 247Sports Crystal Ball Predictions, USC has an 85 percent chance at landing McCoy and Texas has a 12 percent shot to nab him. Texas would have to make a big late run to land McCoy ahead of the Trojans.

McCoy recently took his official visit to USC on Dec. 1. It seemed to make a positive impact on him. This visit to California came much later than the one he made to the University of Texas. McCoy made his official visit to the Forty Acres back on Sep. 15. He also took official visits to Washington and UCLA since Sep. 15.
