A huge test awaits Texas basketball as it looks to get back on track before the start of Big 12 play, on Dec. 9 against the Purdue Boilermakers.

The chance for a turnaround of a dismal three-game losing streak is approaching for Texas basketball, as it battles the Purdue Boilermakers at home on Dec. 9. The Frank Erwin Center hasn’t been the site of much happiness of late for Texas basketball or its fan base. That can all turnaround if one key win comes the way of Texas basketball against Purdue.

To get back on the right track, Texas basketball needs to be ready for a strong front court and upstart young team making its way to the Forty Acres in the Boilermakers. Purdue had a difficult start to the season, as it had expectations of getting a top five seed in the NCAA Tournament at the beginning of the regular season.

Purdue has one more win on the season than the Horns, but it also has the same amount of losses. At least for Purdue, each of those losses came against top 25 opponents. It did claim a huge victory over the Maryland Terrapins on Dec. 6 so it comes into this matchup with the Horns with some momentum.

However, the three losses for the Boilermakers came against the Virginia Tech Hokies, Florida State Seminoles, and Michigan Wolverines. Those three losses are much better than the Horns which includes the Michigan State Spartans, Radford Highlanders, and VCU Rams. Two of the three losses for the Horns came when the team was favored.

Here’s a look at the five bold predictions as the Texas Longhorns battle the Purdue Boilermakers at home on Dec. 9.
