With so much left to do for the 2019 Texas football recruiting class before the Early Signing Period, which underrated prospects could the coaches target?

This could be a big 10 days for the 2019 Texas football recruiting class before the commencement of the newly installed Early Signing Period on Dec. 19. The Early Signing Period spans for a few days beyond Dec. 19, but Texas football recruiting has the date initially circled on the calendar.

In terms of the importance of the Early Signing Period, the first day is when most of the action occurs with some late commitments and the first round of recruits inking the National Letter of Intent. For Texas football recruiting, it’s about locking down as many of the 21 commits in the 2019 class as the coaching staff possibly can.

A few key 2019 Texas football recruiting targets have set decision dates before the Early Signing Period concludes. Four-star Bradenton, FL, running back Noah Cain has his decision date set for Dec. 19, and three-star JUCO outside linebacker Caleb Johnson will announce his commitment on Dec. 13.

There will be a few other key targets that are four and five-star prospects that the Horns will pursue in the next few days before the start of the Early Signing Period. During the Early Signing Period itself, Texas football recruiting will have a few days to get some work done and get the quantity and quality of this 2019 class among the nation’s best.

If Texas wants to get the edge on the Oklahoma Sooners, TCU Horned Frogs, Oklahoma State Cowboys, West Virginia Mountaineers, etc. permanently in the Big 12, it needs to bring in as good of a class as possible for next year. The Horns made a significant leap on the field and in the win column because of the strength of the 2018 class.

Here’s a look at the five underrated 2019 prospects that the Texas Longhorns should pursue to add to its highly touted 2019 football recruiting class.
