Running back is going to be an interesting position to follow in the days leading up to both the Early Signing Period and National Signing Day for the 2019 Texas football recruiting class. Since Texas only has one running back committed in the class so far, it needs to focus on bringing in more depth at the position before it’s all said and done.

Four-star Buford, GA, running back Derrian Brown will be a solid addition to the backfield for the Horns next year, but this group needs more help. The first choices for Texas to add at running back out of the pool of 2019 high school prospects includes four-star Noah Cain and five-star Trey Sanders.

Three-star Las Vegas, NV, JUCO running back Rhamondre Stevenson would be a good depth piece for the Horns to haul in if either Sanders or Cain doesn’t work out. Stevenson ranks as the No. 5 2019 JUCO running back in the nation and a top 85 prospect overall. At 5-foot-11 and nearly 240 pounds, Stevenson could give the Texas backfield another bruiser that can run between the tackles.

Stevenson holds less than a dozen offers from Division 1 programs, so he isn’t very highly sought after like some of the other underrated prospects listed here. Texas football recruiting would have to fend off the likes of the Utah Utes, Kansas State Wildcats, and BYU Cougars to get Stevenson to come to the Forty Acres. If the need is still there with Cain and Sanders committed elsewhere, Stevenson is a great solution for the Horns at running back.
