1. Former Longhorns excelling at the next level

When most college hoops fans envision the most successful programs in the nation at churning out NBA talent, the one-and-done blue blood schools first come to mind. The Duke Blue Devils, Kentucky Wildcats, and Kansas Jayhawks of the world tend to overshadow the Texas basketball program in terms of the NBA talent that comes out year after year.

However, the Horns deserve a big more respect for the lengthy list of alumni it boasts at the next level right now. That lists extends from potentially the best player in the world, as of now, down to some of the brightest young starts for some NBA team’s front courts. The first player that comes to mind is the Golden State Warriors superstar forward Kevin Durant.

After some off-the-court drama that came along for Durant of late with some of his teammates, he and the Warriors got back on track. He recently posted a career high 51 points in a weird loss for the Warriors that came against the Toronto Raptors on Nov. 29. That doesn’t do some of his recent performances justice as Golden State took control of the Western Conference back of late.

Moreover, some other noteworthy stretches of solid play from former Longhorns in the NBA includes the San Antonio Spurs star power forward LaMarcus Aldridge and Brooklyn Nets potent big man Jarrett Allen. Aldridge posted 14 points and eight rebounds in a win over LeBron James and the LA Lakers recently, and Allen has a two-game streak of double-doubles in two straight wins for the Nets.
