In this year’s Sugar Bowl, we’re going to witness the possible last game with Texas football for the bulk of the starters.

The Allstate Sugar Bowl is set to be the site of two rising blue blood programs facing off, Texas football and the Georgia Bulldogs, for the first time since 1984. There will be plenty of headlines worth following during the month of December for both teams leading up to this New Years Day postseason showdown. And, the Big 12 and SEC pitted against each other usually makes for some entertaining football.

Texas football is facing the odds in this game, with Georgia favored by two possessions from the Vegas line. Georgia and Texas enter this game in similar positions, with each coming off losses in conference title games. The way Georgia lost came in a more heartbreaking fashion than Texas football did, but both were hard for each respective fan base.

Moreover, the losers of the Big 12 Championship Game and SEC Championship Game face each other in the Sugar Bowl while the winners face each other in a College Football Playoff Semifinal. The Oklahoma Sooners and Alabama Crimson Tide won the Big 12 and SEC and will face off as the one and four seeds in a Semifinal game.

This is the final opportunity for some of the top NFL prospects from both Texas and Georgia to show out at the college level before they take their talents to the next level. And, some of the younger standouts from each squad have the opportunity to enter the off-season with some added confidence with a solid performance in this postseason showdown.

Here’s a look at the five players to watch from the Texas Longhorns in the 2018 Allstate Sugar Bowl that kicks off in New Orleans, LA, on Jan 1.
