We’ll soon find out if Texas football is up to the task of taking down the Georgia Bulldogs, but there’s some other important games taking place beforehand.

The bowl season starts in just a few days, and there’s a ton of excitement and discussion surrounding it as always. Texas football participates in the postseason this year against the No. 5 ranked Georgia Bulldogs in the Allstate Sugar Bowl on Jan. 1, and it kicks off at 7:45 CT at the Mercedes Benz Superdome in New Orleans, LA. The hope for Texas football is to walk away with a bowl win over an SEC opponent for the second straight year and head into the off-season with at least a top 12 ranking in the nation. That is an achievable goal for Texas football to cap a solid 2018 campaign.

Bowl season officially kicks off this year on Dec. 15 with the Tulane Green Wave taking on the Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns at Camping World Stadium in the Cure Bowl. The Cure Bowl kicks off at 12:30 p.m. CT as one of five bowls taking place on Dec. 15.

The highlight of the initial day of the postseason will be the Las Vegas Bowl which pits the No. 21 Fresno State Bulldogs against the Arizona State Sun Devils. Last year, the Las Vegas Bowl definitely delivered on the entertainment front as the Boise State Broncos took down star quarterback Justin Herbert and the Oregon Ducks.

There will be a two week gap between the start of the postseason and the Sugar Bowl for Texas football. That means there will be plenty of exciting action to catch for these fans in the process that could have an impact on the Horns heading into the off-season.

Here’s a look at the five outside bowl games that are worth watching for the Texas Longhorns and its fans.
